Death toll in storm-fed flash floods rises to 19 in Taiwan
TAIPEI
 Taiwan (AP) - Taiwanese officials say flash floodstriggered by tropical storm Kalmaegi have killed 19 people in Taiwan. The disaster relief center lists another six people as missing in its Sunday report. The storm lashed southern Taiwan with torrential rains Friday triggering flash floods and landslides.The death toll was raised from 13 to 19. The center says mudslides buried two houses that killed seven people in Kaohsiung southern Taiwan. Most others were washed away byrampaging waters. Typhoons and tropical storms often hit the island between July and September. Kalmaegi the Korean word for sea gullwas the first storm to hit Taiwan this year |
