Thousands of game fish like trout have died


Thousands of fish have been killed in a pollution incident in a County Antrim river the Environment and Heritage Service has said.
The EHS said about 2300 game fish and thousands of coarse fish died in the Sixemilewater River near Dunadry.
They are examining the possibility of links to an earlier pollution incident on Thursday on the Ballymartin River.
In another incident the EHS said about 60 fish died in the River Torrent at Carland Bridge near Dungannon. Officers were alerted to the County Tyrone kill on Thursday and EHS and Fisheries Conservancy Board officers have been trying to determine the source of the pollution in all the incidents. An EHS spokesperson said: "We would like to remind all sectors of industry and the public to note that watercourses in Northern Ireland are currently especially sensitive to all forms of pollution due to the low flow in rivers and to be especially vigilant to ensure nothing polluting is allowed to enter our rivers and streams."
