The forgotten Kandemir Inn located on the historical Silk Road in the central Anatolian city of Konya will be reborn with restoration worth YTL 2 million.

“There are lots of historical inns in Konya where many arteries of commerce intersect. The most important among them is the Silk Road” said Foundations Directorate Konya Provincial Director İbrahim Genç. He said most of those inns were about to get ruined until a short time ago adding that the directorate had been working to restore them.

Noting that some inns could not be renewed due to their aaaaaaaa on private properties Genç said attention could be only given to some. “The Zazadın Inn constructed in 1235-1236 and located near Tömek Village was restored by the Selçuklu Municipality and opened a short time ago. The restoration of an important work of the Selçuklu period Kandemir Inn located on Beyşehir Highway started this spring. The restoration including a historical mosque located nearby will be complete by the end of the year and the inn will be opened to tourists” he said.

Kızılören Municipality is planning to restore another historical building the Kızılören Inn located in the same region. Konya Greater Municipality will also renovate the Hocacihan Inn placed near the Selçuk University Meram Faculty of Medicine.
