Neata received the honor from İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu at a ceremony held at the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality.
Mircea Neata was selected for the title for his contributions to developing economic

social and cultural relations between Turaaa and Romania

as well as for his support for İzmir during the city's EXPO candidacy. The İzmir Metropolitan Municipal Board unanimously passed the proposal to grant the title of honorary citizen to Neata.
In a speech at the awards ceremony

Neata said that he was honored by the municipality council. “Since the first day I have arrived in this city

I encountered hospitality and friendship. I have never felt myself as a foreigner

” he said.
